With a Pencil in My Pocket is a social artwork. 150 people are sharing six subscriptions to "500 Colored Pencils" - each receiving one pencil per month for 20 months. Every month each of us seeks out a manifestation of our pencil’s color name – a place, person, thing, creature, activity – that somehow embodies the essence of the color. These experiences are documented by writing a short story or vignette with that month's pencil in our project journals.
I can't wait to receive my first pencil!
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me a little of a book I read.
'Colour - Travels through the paintbox' by Victoria Finlay.
I have that book on my bookshelf, but I haven't read it yet! This would probably be a good time, eh? :)
ReplyDeleteHaving spent the last 3 months choosing paint colors for our massive house remodel, and winning my color-phobic husband over to Rhumba Orange & Melon Popsicle for the kitchen, I'm totally addicted to COLOR ... I can't get enough! It will be so much fun to look forward to new inspiration each month.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, Lea!
Hello,
ReplyDeleteHas anyone received their pencil yet?
Hi Everybody! This is just a little update to let you know that the pencils have arrived on my end and I'll be sending them out in the next week. Can't wait for the first round of stories! -Lea
ReplyDeleteYay! I received my pencil in the mail today!
ReplyDeleteThis is such an extraordinary way to begin the year. And based on color. Yes! Lea, thank you so much.
ReplyDeletePatricia L. L.
I mailed my contribution yesterday and am eager to read about everyone's colors. I'm already enjoying myself wondering what
ReplyDeletethe rest of the persons with pencils in their pockets have said.
Cheers!
